What am I:
I am one of the Grant Museum’s most popular objects. I am eighteen moles packed tightly into a jar!
I am a jar of European moles, Talpa europaea, found in Britain, Europe and Russia. These moles live in woodland, grassland and farmland, wherever soil is deep enough to dig tunnels.

Packing things into a jar is an efficient way of storing a large number of specimens.
Glass jars, preservation fluid and storage space is expensive, and by storing several specimens together it cuts costs, and makes transporting them easier.
